International companies and tax consultations
At the relevant time, a foreign company was considered one of the tools for structuring ownership, international settlements and capital protection. In particular, such a company could act as a founder of a new or existing business.
The authors emphasised that choosing a structure was not limited to choosing a jurisdiction. The bank, account management arrangements, documentary support for transactions and allocation of risks among several structures when the volume of assets became significant were equally important.
The promotional offer current when the historical page was prepared stated a starting price of €448 for a ready-made foreign company suitable for subsequently opening an account with a foreign bank with internet banking. Special terms applied to Ukrainian clients of the UBC group of companies. The client had to identify the person who would manage the account and represent the company; the consulting company handled the other organisational steps.
For clients who had not yet decided how to use a foreign structure, a preliminary consultation was offered. Its purpose was to explain the possible functions of the company in a specific business model rather than merely carry out formal registration.
The text from previous years emphasised that a foreign company could expand the freedom of its owner and the business, but the decision had to take political, banking and tax risks into account. The legality of the structure, transparent origin of funds and compliance of transactions with the requirements of the owner's country of residence were particularly important.
UBC stated that it provided registration and comprehensive servicing of foreign and European companies in various jurisdictions. A network of representative offices and associated firms in international business centres was used for this purpose; the material also stated that more than one thousand organisations in different countries used the group's services.
